The Centre County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is helping to protect you, your family and your property from the effects of an accidental hazardous chemical release. The LEPC has a planned procedure for sending emergency responders to the scene of a chemical accident. These responders are trained and certified to assess the situation and take the proper precautions to avoid or minimize injuries and damages. Fire, police and emergency medical service personnel practice the plan regularly to be sure it works.
Hazardous chemicals are found almost everywhere in modern society. An uncontrolled release of hazardous chemicals can create a chemical emergency. Learn how to protect yourself during chemical emergencies.
